"Simple Math" is a song that was written in collaboration with Kali Dancel. Kali had written early versions of the verse progression and the bridge as well as lyrics for the chorus. When we started playing music together, I brought in the chorus chords, strum patterns, and some of the vocal melodies, finalizing the song into what you hear now. The best part of this song is the 3-part harmonies added by Ann Nguyen. I had done some session work with Ann at Beehive Studios and I really enjoyed her voice and style of singing. I asked Ann to sing the 2nd verse of the song as well as harmonize the choruses and vocal tags, and she came in a knocked it all out of the park within a couple of hours.
